Purpose

The successful candidate will be working closely with the Senior Manager-Instrumentation: Cape Town and


her team in all aspects of ensuring that engineering and service requirements are met across all sites, so that


customers identify Proconics as a trusted and critical partner to their business. The major responsibilities of


this position are to deliver control and instrumentation discipline deliverables and oversee that the intent is


being carried through the design; managing interfaces and supporting commissioning and optimisation,


where projects span across multiple disciplines. Additionally, the engineer provides pro-active


recommendations to customers and other key internal stakeholders to establish long-term partnership .


Requirements

Required Outputs and Responsibilities:


• Review client proposals in terms of instrument, system engineering and design


• Provide technical input for basic and detail design


• Manage and oversee all aspects of C&I Engineering deliverables that will ensure the delivery of


quality work to other disciplines whether delivered internally or through external resources


• Ensure project deliverables of high quality are produced by execution team


• Perform a Project Management role on some smaller projects


• Ensure projects are being executed on time and within budget


• Interaction with Clients regarding project work, new work and quotation preparations


• Ensure Zero tolerance towards unsafe designs, acts, hazards and a passion for a zero- harm


culture through safe engineering solutions


• Ensure proper planning, organizing, control, coordinate and direct C&I Engineering activities.


Qualifications/Experience

• B Eng. Degree/B. Tech


• 4+ years’ experience as C&I Engineer in Oil and Gas or Energy industry with proven track record in


basic engineering, design, commissioning and operation support


• Sound knowledge of DCS/ESD (Honeywell, Yokogawa, Emerson) & PLC (Siemens, Rockwell,


Schneider, Beckhoff) systems


• Sound knowledge of safety & protection systems


• Sound knowledge of HMI & SCADA systems


• Sound knowledge of fieldbus communication systems (Profibus, Modus etc.)


• Sound knowledge of brownfields system replacement engineering and design for both DCS and


ESD in instrumentation Engineer:


• Good grounding in instrument (temperature, flow, pressure, level etc.) and control element design


practices in an intrinsically safe environment


• Knowledge of applicable codes, standards and regulations


• Experienced in planning and reviewing of technical work, maintaining project schedules and work


plans 


• Translate control and protection system intention across disciplines during design phase and


managing interfaces


• Ensure engineering innovation, optimization and strategies are implemented and enforced to the


advantage of our partners


• Be able to analyse process flow, value streams, develop performance enhancements, implement


cost effective designs and monitors project results.
