A Day of Health, Relaxation, and Mindfulness

14 Nov 2024

Durban Wellness Day

The Proconics Coastal team in Durban recently took part in a wellness day event aimed at promoting employee well-being.

Activities during the event were designed to enhance physical health, mental relaxation, and mindful engagement, encouraging employees to focus on their wellness.

Health risk assessments kicked off the day, allowing employees to check key health metrics such as blood pressure, cholesterol levels, HIV/AIDS status, and BMI. This offered valuable insights into their health, helping them identify any risks and set goals for improvement.

After the assessments, employees enjoyed massage therapy sessions, which provided stress relief and relaxation, helping to alleviate the tension often built up in fast-paced work environments. Many employees noted the immediate benefits in terms of relaxation and improved focus.

A fun and active smoothie bike station was also set up, where participants could blend their own smoothies by pedaling a stationary bike. This unique activity combined physical exercise with nutrition, encouraging employees to think about both movement and healthy eating in an enjoyable way.

To conclude the event, employees took part in a guided meditation session led by Usha Javan from Brahma Kumaris (Global Peace House). This session provided a peaceful break from work, promoting mindfulness and relaxation, helping to reduce stress and improve mental clarity.

During the Wellness Toolbox session, Tyrell Goodman, Safety Officer, discussed the importance of well-being in the workplace, while Dorah Tlala, Group CHRO, spoke about the connection between mind, body, and soul, encouraging holistic wellness. Precious Sibeko provided information on how employees can access support through the employee assistance programme.

Employees appreciated the opportunity to explore various aspects of wellness, leaving the event with renewed motivation to incorporate healthy changes into their daily routines.  A special thank you to Reginald Mbatha and Martinus Beumer for their active involvement in the wellness activities. Your support made a significant impact.
