Rain or Shine: Proconics Brings Energy to Relay
On November 9, a dedicated group of Proconites from the Inland Petrochemical Operations team took to the early morning hours, arriving at 4 AM to manage the bustling PEI&T Chill Zone at the Sasol Interdepartmental Relay.
Â
As an invited partner and sponsor, Proconics teamed up with Sasol PEI&T, Wood, and MegChem to ensure the zone was ready to offer athletes a much-needed space to relax after their races.
Â
The event, which began with the typical pre-race excitement and last-minute adjustments, was met with an unexpected twist —rain. Despite forecasts predicting only a 5% chance of precipitation, a downpour quickly drenched the venue.
Â
However, Proconics' team maintained high spirits, keeping the Chill Zone energised with positivity and a steady supply of coffee. As athletes competed in the rain-soaked conditions, Proconics colleagues cheered them on, braving the chilly weather to support every participant.
Â
Among the standout contributors was Godfrey Sithole, whose efforts did not go unnoticed. In addition to offering unwavering support for Proconics, he stepped up to assist other teams, helping neighbouring companies with gazebo setups and even rescuing vehicles from difficult parking spots.
Â
Despite the challenges posed by the weather, Proconics is proud to have been part of the event. The team's enthusiasm, combined with the ongoing support from Sasol, made the day a memorable one for all involved.
