Heritage Day and
29th Birthday Celebrations

Proconics recently marked a remarkable milestone — its 29th anniversary — by hosting a vibrant celebration infused with the rich tapestry of heritage. This event was not just a commemoration of years past, but a heartfelt acknowledgement of the unity and appreciation that define our journey together.

To kick off the festivities, our leadership team toured various offices, expressing deep gratitude to our employees. A highlight was Group CEO Melvin Jones's visit to Secunda, the birthplace of Proconics. With a humorous nod to the passage of time, he admitted he needed a GPS to find his way back.

Melvin compared the stages of a person's life to the evolution of our organisation as he reflected on its journey in his address. He gave a detailed account of Proconics' formative years, a period of exploration and experimentation during which important lessons were drawn from both achievements and disappointments. He emphasised that we are entering a new stage of the organisation's development and are prepared to seize the exciting prospects presented by the major infrastructure projects in South Africa.

The Secunda festivities culminated in a spectacular feast featuring a creative take on local dishes, including chakalaka, curry-stuffed vetkoeks, and succulent chicken wings.

Durban’s Culinary Celebration

Employees in Durban demonstrated the office's different backgrounds by sharing their favourite cultural foods, which fostered a sense of collaboration. In a moving statement, Martinus Beumer, Coastal Director reflected on our 29-year journey while jokingly addressing the variety of delicacies that symbolised their many cultures.

The team enjoyed a delightful spread featuring samoosas, chevda, and partha rolls, alongside quintessential South African biltong and wors. For those with a sweet tooth, the feast included Pedi sweet corn on the cob, koeksisters, and a specially designed Proconics birthday cake.

Cape Town's Braai and Chill

The crew got together for a fun braai in Cape Town. There was plenty of laughter and good times shared. The moment Adriaan Van Wyk cut the cake to celebrate Proconics' 29th anniversary and his crucial involvement in opening the Cape Town office in 2019 was especially memorable.

In his moving speech, Phillip Venter strengthened the ties that bind us all by highlighting our company's rich history and guiding principles of inclusivity and teamwork.

Vanderbijlpark’s Competitive Spirit

The atmosphere in Vanderbijlpark was electrifying as coworkers judged each other's traditional dress in an attempt to display their competitive spirit. Hans Suurd, the Managing Director of ProGO, gave a reflection on the journey and the creation of ProGO, while Takalani Tshikosi, the employee with the longest tenure, expressed thoughts on the company's development that struck a deep chord with the staff.

Homemade bunny chows were among the culinary highlights. A delicious two-tiered vanilla and blueberry cake marked the conclusion of the festivities and symbolised the sweetness of our common accomplishments.

Our colleagues at ProGO indulged in delectable cupcakes and fun gatherings in celebration of Proconics’ birthday.

Johannesburg’s Cultural Feast

Employees in Johannesburg celebrated in two parts. Reginald Mbatha, Managing Director of Proconics gave a speech at lunch, where he cut the cake, discussed the company's history, and recognised employees who were instrumental in setting up the office.

In the afternoon, the celebration evolved into a lively cultural event that included a tasting of South African cuisine, an exciting performance of traditional dance, and time for reflection.

Through these diverse celebrations, Proconics honoured its rich heritage while reaffirming its commitment to growth, unity, and appreciation among all employees.
